SoyLites Review

Their Story – Colin and Nicole

SoyLites was born in 2007. From very humble beginnings operating from a small room at the back of their house, they have grown into a fully fledged – and still growing – manufacturing entity with 7 permanent staff.  The education of consumers about soy candles and their relative advantages over conventional candles remains a key necessity for their growth. When they launched their first products on the shelves in 2008, the whole concept and idea of soy candles was virtually unknown in South Africa. While they have had many challenges entering the South African market, they remain grateful to all who have supported them and for all the encouraging comments and suggestions and feedback.

Their growth strategy includes expanding and diversifying their range, and expanding into the export market. In addition to the soy candle range, they also manufacture body and massage soy balms, and are now packaging various raw materials that they deem in line with their vision and value of working with high quality, natural products and ingredients. They both enjoy innovating, even if sometimes just in small ways. Some of these include include African Botanical oil blends, Hydrosols, and soy wax crayons (another first in SA). They are very pleased with their growth into the export market and currently have distributors in the UK, Scandinavia, Peru, Nigeria and Asia.

SoyLites access the best quality raw soy materials and the latest information and developments in the natural candle industry. However, their commitment is to consistently craft and deliver a SoyLites product that is influenced by their African roots. All their packaging materials, glass and metal containers, essential oils and other related extras are locally sourced where possible.

SoyLites intends to continue producing and consistently delivering the best quality, locally influenced natural soy candles and products for many years to come.

A few of my favorites

Rainbow rocks soy crayons

The rainbow crayons are specifically developed to enhance the creativity of your little one. From the moment Hudson opened this box, it has become one of his favorite things. We practice colours and draw shapes that he can recognize. Made with 100% vegetable wax, they are beautifully coloured with food grade pigments and scented with pure lavender essential oil for calming benefits. The lavender scent just resonates from the pages that your little one is colouring in.

Rainbow Rocks are also safe and effective as bath crayons. As long as the water is not too hot, the crayons can be used to draw on the bath and are easily cleaned. The best thing that I love about these crayons are that they do not break like normal crayons do. It comes in a box of 9 coloured Soy Crayons – for kids up to 6 years of age. it also includes 24 FREE fun stickers. It retails online for R115.00

Cooling muscle rub & Foot and heel balm

With Ginger, Eucalyptus, Arnica Oil and Menthol Crystals for effective relief. I have always suffered from tired legs at the end of a long day. Since using the cooling muscle rub, it has definitely provided some relief at night. I love the the texture is not oily and that the smell is not over powering. You know, that smell you normally get from muscle rubs. If you are an active busy and energetic person and in need of some deep, stimulating and cooling relief for stressed and fatigued muscles, hands and feet, joint aches and pains, then get the Cooling muscle rub online for R120.00. On those special pamper days, I take out the foot and heel balm from SoyLites. With Peppermint, Orange and Tea Tree oil, the Foot and Heel Balm also has anti-fungal and anti-septic properties. This means it keeps your feet feeling fresh while moisturised every day. I always find that some heel balms are so oily and when you put on your shoes you slip and slide. Anyone else feel me here? Not with the Foot and Heel Balm, its the first thing that I put on my feet after I shower, so by the time I put on my shoes, my feet is nourished. To get your hands on the foot and heel balm, then head on over to SoyLites and get yours for R120.00

SoyLites Candles

If you do not own a SoyLites Candle then you are missing out big time. I love candles, especially lighting one while I am working. It just calms me down and I seem to focus better with a tranquil feel to the room. They have such an extensive range that I am sure you will find something you like, Hurry up though, because the candles sell out very quickly. Prices vary, depending on the size of course. One candle that has been saving us from the flies and flying insects these past few weeks has been the Peaceful Summer Insect Repellant candle that retails for R200.00. 200ml – 45+ hours burn time.
